I love living in NYC! I was born in Queens, raised in Brooklyn, back in Queens again! haha But I’m not going to lie, being a New York Mom can be tough at times, especially with our Little Movers in tow.Today I want to share baby solutions to make getting around New York City a little easier!
Yes. I put quotation marks around diaper bag. I never used a legit diaper bag. Ok, maybe I did, but for a split second. But that didn’t last long. I could never find a diaper bag that I really loved. And I’m not a big fan of the cutesy bags out there. That’s just my personal preference. I just used a nice spacious lightweight black bag of mine. (Similar to the one pictured above!)A bag that would go with any outfit. (I am a stylish momma after all) Most importantly a bag that would hold baby Gabby’s essentials!
Asides from the bag being lightweight, make sure the contents in your bag are light weight as well! If you are formula feeding there is no need to bring the entire canister with you. There are plenty of little containers to carry formula in. You don’t need 10 bottles…you don’t need an entire weeks worth of clothes. Get a travel sized tube of ointment versus carrying a full sized one. A changing pad is a MUST.There is also NO need to carry an entire box of baby wipes! Get something like the Huggies wipes clutch that is both refillable and stylish! As for diapers- Huggies Little Movers are awesome! Pack enough for the amount of time you’ll be out. Trust me- you won’t need the entire bag or box of diapers. And if for some reason you do run out, I love that there are so many CVS locations here in NYC! Just like the city that never sleeps- most CVS locations are 24 hours!
Speaking of diapers, check out this CVS coupon from coupons.com to save money on Huggies!
Be sure to use your CVS Extra Care Card as well!
Gabby was born in LA,so initially the travel system I had worked just fine. The size and weight of the stroller didn’t matter since we had to drive everywhere for the most part. Once we moved to NYC that travel system had to go! There was no way I could get around NYC with it. The 1st thing I purchased was a snap and go that could be easily used with Gabby’s car seat. It was pretty lightweight and was easy to fold! Easy to fold comes in soooo handy when you are hailing a cab!

Once Gabby was a little older we upgraded to an umbrella stroller. Something lightweight of course! I chose black because it goes with everything! Our umbrella stroller came in so handy. We used it so much on all of our city adventures! It lasted us a while as well!
Umbrella Stroller fun!
If you’re just running a quick errand. Or you know you won’t be out too long, then I highly recommend a baby carrier. The baby carrier came in especially handy when taking the subway. It’s unfortunate but sometimes people DON’T offer you help with your stroller, so at least with a carrier you will have one less thing to worry about! Make sure your carrier is both comfy for you and the baby! Something that will distribute the baby’s weight nicely and won’t hurt your back too much!
Gabby cozy in her carrier.
Though being a New York City mom can be tough at times, I love it! There is no place like NYC!
Do you have any tips for getting around NYC as a mom?
