*Disclaimer!!- This post is about plastic surgery. However, I am in NO WAY telling anyone to go off and get plastic surgery done. Just posting some information because I do know some people have mentioned getting plastic surgery to me.So this information may be beneficial to some. All opinions are my own.*
According to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, women had nearly 112,000 tummy tucks in 2010, up 85% since 2000; 90,000 breast lifts, up 70% since 2000; and 296,000 breast augmentations, up 39% since 2000.The numbers have increased since then.Mothers who desire their old bodies back after childbearing often rely on cosmetic surgery. “The trending mommy makeover is one of our most requested surgical procedure,” notes Dr. Neal Goldberg, MD, F.A.C.S.,who says that healthy mothers who wish to restore their bodies can combine several procedures to quickly reshape their physical attributes in 1-2 visits (depending on how many procedures the patient is opting to do).

Dr. Goldberg recommends the following most popularly combined post-partum cosmetic surgery procedures for a Mommy Makeover:
- Women who have lost natural fullness in their breast post-pregnancy should consider a breast augmentation (augmentation mammoplasty) to restore the volume that is typically lost.
- If the breasts sag due to excessive skin, a breast augmentation alone will not correct this problem. In this case, it is recommended that women who suffer from
droopy breasts should consider a Breast Lift.
- Abdominoplasty, commonly referred to as a “Tummy Tuck” is ideal for mothers who hold excessive skin on the middle or lower abdomen. After the belly expands to provide the baby internal comfort, the skin is stretched significantly resulting in flabby skin that will not revert back. A Tummy Tuck will remove the unwanted skin and help the abdomen appear tighter and flatter. A Tummy Tuck is also perfect for women who have lost baby the baby weight.
- After pregnancy, women are stuck with stubborn pockets of fat in places such as the abdomen and back. Liposuction is not a permanent method for losing weight, but it is a way to remove unwanted fat to reshape and contour the body. This is best for fatty areas that won’t respond to healthy diet and exercise regimens.
Q. Shopping for the right plastic surgeon can be tricky and life changing. How should someone make the right choice?
A. First, people should realize that not all “cosmetic surgeons” are board certified plastic surgeons.People should be sure that their surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.Second, people should realize that they are not just shopping for a new body part, but choosing to undergo elective medical care by a doctor. They must first have faith in their surgeon as a doctor. Then a patient must consider whether the surgeon understands their goals, because only then can a surgeon actually achieve those goals.
Q In your opinion, what makes you stand out in the world of medicine and cosmetic surgery?
A.I stand apart in my ability to put my personal opinions and biases aside in order to consider the patient’s goals first. Many plastic surgeons have an ego that overshadows their relationship with their patients and therefore precludes them from understanding their patient’s goals. In addition to my talent and sound medical practice, I feel that patient’s can develop a very good relationship with me. This allows us to make better decisions together, and it is ultimately more satisfying for the patients.
Q. What are the five (5) top requested cosmetics surgeries by woman under 30?
A.Breast augmentation is most common; then breast reduction, liposuction, rhinoplasty (nose job), and chin implant.
Q. Plastic surgery trends come and go. What where the top plastic surgeries for 2013? What are your 2014 predications. For women? For men?
A.Fat transfer to the buttocks has been a big trend for women, and I expect it to continue. For both men and women injectable fillers such as juvederm and restylane to the face to reduce wrinkles and add facial volume have been increasing and will continue to do so.
Q.Besides medicine, tell us something interesting about you.
A.I went to the Wharton School of Business before becoming a doctor. I concentrated on health care policy and economics in the 1990’s before deciding that I’d rather spend my life doing surgeries and working with patients.
Thank you Dr. Neal Goldberg!
