The minute my amiga Ruby posted about the #MixedAmerican t-shirts she was selling on her site Growing Up Blackxican, I knew I had to get one for Gabriella! I met Ruby a few years ago at a blogging conference I believe. Actually, I’m not 100% sure where we met, but all I know is I’m glad we met! She is super nice and friendly! We definitely bonded over our kids being mixed. Even before meeting her I was already a huge fan of her blog- Growing Up Blackxican! Be sure to check it out!
Doesn’t Gabs look adorable in her #MixedAmerican t-shirt?! I love that she asked me what being a Mixed American meant when she saw the shirt for the 1st time. I definitely think it’s super important for Gabby to know all about her heritage! I was born in the United States but my parents are Central American. My mom was from Guatemala and my father from El Salvador. Gabby’s father was born in the U.S.A as well, and his family is African American. So Miss Gabriella is definitely a little mix!
How do you teach kids about their roots?
