For Lent I’ve noticed people like to look for different fish recipes to try out. I am one of those people! I decided to create a dish with traditional flavor using La Morena products! I decided to hit up my local bodega here in NYC to pick up some La Morena products. I love using La Morena because it is a Mexican food brand that tastes authentic! Authenticity is important because I wan’t my family to have wonderful memories during special times like Semana Santa!
So many La Morena products to choose from! I ended choosing the 7oz Chipotle Peppers and the 7oz Pickled Jalapeños. I decided to make a pan seared tilapia with a spicy mashed sweet potato side. I thought the sweetness of the sweet potato, along with the heat from either one of the peppers would be a great mix!
For the tilapia I used 1 fillet per person. I seasoned it with salt & pepper since it absorbs flavor pretty easily. I didn’t add too many spices because I know the mashed sweet potato is going to be full of La Morena flavor!
Add a little olive oil and cook well on both sides.
You will know it’s done once the fish starts to break apart a bit.
Since I am an extremely busy mama, I like to take shortcuts in the kitchen occasionally. These mashed sweet potatoes pellets come in so handy when I want a delicious meal but don’t have the time to peel and boil potatoes. Just follow the directions on the package, or make them from scratch. I promise I will next time! I decided to use the chipotle peppers in this recipe. I used my blender to mix it up finely and added it to my mashed sweet potatoes! The sweet & spicy mixture came out DELICIOUS!
This fish dish came out so great! The spicy flavor of the La Morena chipotle peppers definitely took the mashed sweet potatoes to another level. The tilapia paired nicely with it. I added a little extra chipotle peppers on top for those who want the extra spice!
Do you have any family traditions or recipes for Lent?
